Le chapitre 25 du L\u00e9vitique comporte la d\u00e9finition la plus pr\u00e9cise de l\u2019ann\u00e9e jubilaire : \u00a0\u00bb Vous proclamerez l\u2019affranchissement de tous les habitants du pays… Chacun de vous rentrera dans son patrimoine… Cette cinquanti\u00e8me ann\u00e9e sera pour vous une ann\u00e9e jubilaire : vous ne s\u00e8merez pas, vous ne moissonnerez pas les \u00e9pis qui n\u2019auront pas \u00e9t\u00e9 mis en gerbes \u00a0\u00bb (Lv 25, 10-11).<\/p>\n

Le Jubil\u00e9 introduit ainsi une c\u00e9sure salutaire dans la logique \u00e9conomique, o\u00f9 il fait place \u00e0 un autre rythme mieux en phase avec les multiples dimensions de la personne humaine. Au c\u0153ur d\u2019une soci\u00e9t\u00e9 obnubil\u00e9e par les pr\u00e9occupations li\u00e9es \u00e0 la rentabilit\u00e9, il repr\u00e9sente le temps de l\u2019homme et le temps de Dieu. En ce sens, il constitue un d\u00e9fi que notre \u00e9poque, au m\u00eame titre que toutes les autres, est appel\u00e9e \u00e0 relever. Le Jubil\u00e9 se distingue aussi par son caract\u00e8re pragmatique, il ne cherche pas \u00e0 nier la r\u00e9alit\u00e9, notamment \u00e9conomique, mais \u00e0 la rendre plus conforme au plan d\u00e9fini par Dieu lui-m\u00eame. Par l\u00e0, il est dot\u00e9 d\u2019une force d\u2019inspiration qui en fait un id\u00e9al mobilisateur pour toutes les traditions religieuses et tous les courants d\u2019id\u00e9es soucieux de justice sociale.<\/p>\n
